Crossing the River Jordan

Like learning all over again
I’m learning about my best friend
Our words all about him were wrong
I’ve learned we were wrong all along

The land has been crying in pain
The land has not gotten its rain
We ran from those swollen with pride
The land is a sliver where I’m
starting all over again
learning about my best friend

A grave is where all of us stay
The grave is where I once remained
He’s made his home here in my heart
The grave I can’t see it’s so far

A name, I’m now bearing his name
The name I’m not wearing in shame
He’s, famously, risen up high
The name’s among things I describe
starting all over again
learning about my best friend

Every day it’s me and him, alone
No team, we go alone

Behemoth from middle to sides
One team here: the people of tribes
One spiritual, planting God’s seeds
A fearful, sad world on its knees

The dragon had started the lies
Such sadness as our Father cried
My Absalom! I should have died
Life’s tragedy, sadly, as I’m
starting all over again
learning about my best friend

I’m adding to facts at the end

Since he’s the Great One who says
Behold! I make all things new
And he says to me, Write
because these words are faithful and true

Few like my dark sayings however
but the others dream of ways they can trap you
We don’t want a monologue
but we don’t want a wintry mix, either
We’ll double-check and triple-check if we have to

The beginning of each day is a clean slate
Crossing over the river Jordan with the Lord

Happy New Year!
