Christmas at the End of Time

The world is battling in battles
divided into division
and fractured into fractions
into kingdoms with no King
They’ve been tempted by the tempter
led behind iron bars
deceived by deceivers
emptied into emptiness
People flee – to who?
We would flee to you

As the world’s been snared in snares
trapped in traps
blackmailed by blackmailers
the middle class by the criminal class
But we’re trusting the Trustworthy
obeying the Obedient
redeemed by the Redeemer
and recreated by the Creator
People flee – to who?
We would flee to you
Jesus, our sweet Maker
today, we celebrate your birthday

The crookedness of the crooked
the righteousness of the righteous
the evilness of the evil
God’s eyes are in Heaven watching
When the end is in our sights
since, my friend, we’re in the night
watch what happens next in this winter
since we’re at the end of time
People flee – to who?
We would flee to you

The worldliness of the world
the busyness of the busy
the watchfulness of the watchman
the wickedness of the wicked
This is it for the world
Who’ll commiserate with the miserable?
put it out of its misery
since there is no place for it to go
People flee – to who?
We would flee to you
Jesus, our Maker
today, we celebrate your birthday
Praise our Creator!
Thank our Maker
All who are ashamed make you ashamed
(they are not going to Heaven)
Don’t be ashamed
though it’s real late
Maybe he’ll have mercy
But he will not forsake us
or leave us behind
People flee – to who?
We would flee to you

Merry Christmas!
