When I ceased writing my prayer journal I stopped getting good things done, so, I started a new one. At the top of the first page I wrote, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” This command of Jesus seemed like good prayer advice and a good way to start it. Then, I wrote the first date, Friday, August 1, 2019, and some concerns, friends’ needs, and related Bible verses so I can keep track of my progress and think about each of these things throughout each day. And in the future, I can discuss these serious issues.
I bought the light purple blank journal on sale for a couple of bucks a couple of weeks ago. It’s lavender, but I like to call it purple because purple is the color of royalty, and God’s people are the true royalty on earth, though in exile.
Starting my days off with a more complete prayer program, I seem to get the right things done, not only because I’m focusing on good things, crystallizing them, and committing myself to them, but because I think God thinks it’s the right thing to do and he’s making it happen. This increases my trust and faith. And I think it’s like a budget, or some other way of organizing. I want to keep doing the right things each day, not stupid, wasteful things. Now, I have one eye focused on what God wants. And that’s a big help.
