The Pilgrims left England for freedom
but many died sailing to Plymouth
God’s children raised food all through Autumn
to get them all through the cruel Winter
Forgiven, the Pilgrims lived on
The brave were as good as the best, yet
were starving and found some food, hidden
They ate it but knew it was stealing
and promised to pay back the Indians
Forgiven, the Pilgrims lived on
As blood runs through our veins
and oil’s in our engines
let us never run out of forgiveness
They made the first laws in our country
and blazed a good trail for the living
with neighbors, the Indians, feasting
which later, some christened Thanksgiving
Forgiven, the Pilgrims lived on
May we all have forgiveness
