Rich Somerville’s mainly a working class town
with government places where lawyers swing ’round
religion’s still practiced and ethics abounds
and middle class neighbors are poorer, somehow

There’re chain stores on Main Street and many small shops
and restaurant tables where servers are stars
with India, China and Italy’s charm
in Somerville station New Jersey, see far

A place where there’s singing, performers with songs
the locals bring autos (restored) and they talk
you come to the table, respect, and bring more
with Somerville’s people you’ll see where we walk

All poor, we are calling ’cause all here will die                                                                    it’s peace that we’re after but somehow it’s lies                                                                 with “high” in high places and pride of this life                                                                  we’re leaving our mother to wean like a child
