My Integrity

Do we have a destination?
Who will meet us at that place?
This one’s with an evil eye
That one has a fighting chin
This one’s with two feet that slide
That one has too tight a grip
I don’t know how I could pick
But we’ll all end up
with the one we love

To our final destination
We’ll arrive there on the way
This one’s with an eye that’s closed
That one has an ear that’s stopped
This one’s with a fool with soap
That one has a broken watch
Who’ll be able to leave the lot?
But we’ll all end up
with the one we love

Do I really want to end up with you?

Who’s our dreaded destination
when we see God’s holy face?
This one’s with a fork that bends
That one has a crooked watch
This one’s with some rock-hard bread
That one has a jug of wine
Who is suited for the flight?
But we’ll all end up
with the one we love

Do I really want to end up with you?

These are evil days
The world is cursed, remember?
We didn’t remember but forgot
Take me in your arms, oh, God
You’re far stronger than anything we’ve got
You uphold me in my integrity
and set me before your face forever

From Psalm 41:12

Dedicated to Philip, my cat 4/15/15 to 1/3/23 Rest in peace, my boy
