In Our Rugged Car

You realize, that when you were happy, you didn’t criticize people half as much as you do now, that you’re not as happy.

“That’s what it is!” you say. And it makes you glad.

But then, the agitators, the saddest of the sad, come back, and make you mad, again. And you get bad, again. And you trash other people, again.

There are agitators all over the place. Our so-called leaders, the media, and our police are constantly agitating us all the time, and everybody knows it and are frustrated about it because it seems there’s not much that we can do about it. My neighbors constantly make a lot of noise and I can’t do much about it. They make noises all the time and I usually forgive them. But sometimes, I get annoyed and forget to be nice, and confront them, and then my other neighbor thinks I’m a complainer and all of a sudden, I am the problem. I walk into a trap. And nobody helps. People use deception to get ahead everywhere.

But we don’t have to stay there, with the neighbors, we can go somewhere else. And we don’t have to listen to the news. It’s usually bad news, so, switch the channel. Here are some things to do when you’re sick, unemployed, broke, or angry or frightened at home.

Forgiveness is very important, these days, and always. So, please forgive me because I was in a hurry wrapping up this post Thank you.

And let me add good manners.

I like to listen to music. I can put earphones in my ears, and, if they get uncomfortable, put headphones over them, and my neighbors can blast their stereo all they want. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Mozart. I heard that he composed music in the classical style, variations on a musical theme, and that promotes logical thinking. With all of the craziness in the world, I need all the logical thinking I can get. I love rock and roll, but I’ve been listening to a lot of classical music, like Mozart, Bach, and Vivaldi, among others.

Meditation is good, too, but I heard that music without words is good for it, so, I’ve been listening to trumpeter Miles Davis and singer/pianist Harry Connick, Jr., as well as classical music. I recommend the albums “Kind of Blue” by Miles and “Other Hours” by Harry. Music with singers singing words inject a spirit into meditation, and the spirit isn’t always what I want. Also, if you chant and empty yourself out, and don’t fill yourself up with something good, that bad stuff’s just going to come back and it’s going to just love the nicely-cleaned room.

Singing is good, also. To inject what I think is good, I’ve been singing from two Christian hymnals I own. The songs replace the junk that’s in my head and I carry the tunes around for a little while. I think it’s better than a lot of other stuff, some of which is downright evil. And, with the songbooks, I also get a chance to read music and practice singing.

Speaking of reading, to speak to the world’s negativity, I read great literature. I’m reading “The Red Badge of Courage” before they ban it for being about the American Civil War or some other stupid reason. It’s good literature because it is very poetic. I love language, so, I want to be exposed to fine writing. Some people don’t like reading for pleasure. If you want to read for spiritual purposes, the Holy Bible is excellent for that as well as great literature, so, you get two for one.

Humor is great for fighting negativity. YouTube has lots of comedy that doesn’t cost you anything. I like Frank Costanza, of “Seinfeld”. And I like “The Honeymooners” with The Great One, Jackie Gleason, as Ralph, with Alice and Norton and Trixie. “The Office” is excellent, also.

And you can listen to Mozart Brain Power music for free, on YouTube, as well as speeches and videos. But steer clear of the news on it. There’s lots of news on it.

Online businesses are everywhere, and they’re on YouTube. There’s no recession with online marketing and entrepreneurs, they’re booming. At home, you can learn a profitable career that requires just a phone and a computer.

Cooking is good at home. I just bought a nice lightweight pan for eggs that’s easy to clean at the supermarket. The malls are still closed in New Jersey. Thank you, governor.

Exercise is good, also. Walking is good exercise and promotes neighborhoods and nature. Stretching is very important. I heard we stick with exercise if we do it at our own pace.

One of the best things in the world is relationships, and God and people and animals are everywhere. I memorize scripture. The 23rd Psalm has a lot of rhymes that make it fun and easy to memorize. It helps me pray before I talk to people, or do things, and that helps everyone with the relating. Animals are our friends, also. Cats like to go out, too, so, I take the cat out for a catwalk. On the catwalk, he gets exercise because he’s a little overweight. On the catwalk his hooman gets some exercise, too.

The negativity is all around, but we don’t have to listen to it. There are much better things to do that don’t cost you anything – like your sanity.

There’s nothing here, for us
the sun is going down
The car is parked out back
we’ll drive it out of town

So, start driving!
In our junkie car
Don’t stop driving!
On and on and on

The whip is cracking for
the dumb ones who’ll look back
You know what happens to
the stubborn, who are slack

So, start driving!
In our rusty car
Don’t stop driving!
On and on and on

If they don’t hate us
why are they always trying to change us?

A city, much too bright
is on the road, you’ll see
The wicked, here, will cry
when you get home with me

So, start driving!
In our dusty car
Don’t stop driving!
On and on and on
