I hadn’t seen my friends for a long time
because of the evil that’s like a wall
I showed one friend my place for the first time
We hardly had greeted before the call
My mother was dying and that was all
God takes us from the highest highs
to the lowest lows
and back again
I grabbed some of my stuff for a short trip
and flew to New Jersey, not far away
My father drove with me down some long roads
the two of us learning the dreaded day
My mother was gone and so far away
We’ll all be reminded
the LORD runs the show
We’re all like his athletes
and he’s like the coach
It’s sunny out the door but it’s dark here
because of a stray cat my cat will fight
The blinds have all been drawn but he looks out
it makes this a strange world that’s not quite right
My mother, dear Lucy, brings eerie light
God’s, actually, the highest highs
and lowest lows
He’s everything
and that we know
To him that rides upon the heavens of heavens
is where we’ll go
In memory of my dear mother, Lucy Ventura, who died on Monday, July 5th, 2021. She lived a long, good life. We have many happy memories, together, where she blessed her family, and people in school, business and church. She will be missed by many who had been encouraged by her. Lucy Ventura was a good wife, mother and friend.
