You and the Mountain

As we look at the graves beneath our feet
they are gray as a skeleton would be
With the bluest skies above
and while the birds still sing
there’s you and me and you are all I see

You and the mountain
far away from crowds
show me what this life is all about

Soon, on the mountain
I will make a shout
There is just no way I’d ever climb down

There’s such peace by the river, here, with you
in a contrast to the cities, where they rule
Though the trees are what I see
it’s you, alone, I’ll need
in dirty, rotten cities, pretty soon

You and the mountain
far away from crowds
show me what this life is all about

June, on the mountain
winter’s not allowed
witnessing a place where life abounds

As we glance at robust machinery
there’s no chance that it rusts in your great heat
As unnatural as sin
they have no love within
they care not for the sun that makes us free

You and the mountain
far away from crowds
show me what this life is all about

Moon on the mountain
music, here, confounds
You are higher, way past finding out

We’re betrayed by the traitors but we’re led
after you rose again from all the dead
As the angel testified
and evil priests had lied
the mountain’s where I find my life instead

You and the mountain
far away from crowds
show me what this life is all about

You are the mountain
when it all comes down
And the only way that I’ll get out

You, destroyer, you’re perfect and won’t bend
as employer of workers of our friend
who will die in all that pride
his zombies, sadly, tried
who’s loyal or unworthy in the end

You and the mountain
far away from crowds
show me what this life is all about

You, with the mountain
take me far from towns
to the place where we’ll be settling down
