Not This But That

Now the serpent was more subtle
than any other beast of the field
which the LORD God had made
The enemy brought treats for the deal

Eve desired to be wiser
She was tricked into eating the forbidden fruit
Adam saw that she didn’t die physically
(but spiritually) and he ate some, too
They were supposed to live forever
and glorify the LORD

Forbidden fruit
A simple rule
Her trick fell flat
Not this, but that

Now the serpent was more subtle
than any other beast of the field
which the LORD God had made
The enemy brings sweets so we’d yield

All are takers and are haters
Born with enmity toward the LORD from the sin
Satan saw that they didn’t grow spiritually
(just physically) and they stayed with him
So, they opposed the only Savior
Their shame brings shame from God

The winning suit
But it’s refused
They’ve been left back
Not this, but that

Now the serpent was more subtle
than any other beast of the field
which the LORD God had made
The enemy’s defeat is complete

She’s been rescued, they’re together
Everyone’s afraid of her
Men are shaking in their boots
Everyone’s afraid of this woman
And her man

The little room
A wicked brew
The sinner’s pass
Not this, but that

The prince of the power of the air’s
division this hour of despair
Run into God’s tower, everywhere

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving
and into his courts with praise
be thankful unto him
and bless his name
Because the LORD is good
his mercy is everlasting
and his truth endures to all generations
