One rainy night I drove home from work and my car broke down in a bad section of Trenton. As I got out of my car to walk to a convenience store down the street a voice called out to me. It was someone in a house, nearby. The family there told me it was dangerous to walk in their neighborhood. I agreed to enter their home and it was warm and dry. An African American family gave this Italian American man safe haven to call his friends to come and get him. It didn’t take long for one to come and the car even started. I thanked the kind family and my friend. I’ll never forgot their act of kindness.
This Thanksgiving may we find things to be thankful for.
