Not the vast Pacific
or the mighty Mississippi
just a strip across the land
that is, sadly, real dry
And we see it ’cause we can
’cause the river gives life
Not the Hudson River
flowing by Big Apple City
But through it we understand
we won’t actually die
that we all should meet there and
at the river we shine
And we know the symbolism
And its holy literature
as the river goes by
It is coming quickly
Summer’s flooding now is imminent
This cleans more than just our hands
A disaster, but ride
When we first saw this we ran
now, in it we all climb
Further than the Little Dipper
go the men and women in it
who were all so bone-dry
It’s the river, clear as crystal
with the water of life
