Seeing Things

I am mystified by life
how it is so cruel
With a mystery that lifts
when I’ve been a fool
I’m a simpleton in it
but obey the rules
kept from wickedness and sin
And I won’t be moved

Just impossible but a miracle
since we live with brutes

I look out my big window and think
you are out there, my friend

I don’t understand why things
have to be this way
I can’t comprehend how much
it will cost to pay
So, I’m overwhelmed by thoughts
I should put away
but we’re purified, like gold
by the hottest flame

Just impossible but a miracle
that we live today

I look out my big window and think
you are out there, my friend
I listen to a soundtrack and dream
you’ll be back here, again

High’s the firmament, and bright
looking down on us
with the wilderness of life
full of such distrust
and a government of fools
who are so mixed up
full of reprobates so crude
dumber than the dumb

Just impossible but a miracle
living in this dump

I look out my big window and think
you are out there, my friend
I listen to a soundtrack and dream
you’ll be back here, again

Walls tumble to the ground and I see
you were right, I was wrong
Hope crumbles all around and I’m weak
so, I watch, by the door

I hope you have a happy Valentine’s Day.
