I overheard a man lie in front of several people in Reading, Pennsylvania the other day. He was speaking with a counsellor and two family members and took a call on his phone and said he wasn’t anywhere near Reading. A few seconds later I heard him lie and say he wasn’t anywhere near Reading, again. And none of them raised an eyebrow. I got upset, but none of them did.
“It’s not odd when someone lies,” a friend told me, “It’s odd when someone tells the truth.”
Who would be surprised if I said we had a huge lying problem in this country? And who would be upset? Very few, I think.
Liars and Unbelievers will not enjoy eternal life with God. They will be annihilated by God. The Bible says God will completely burn the earth and the universe, in 2 Peter 3:10-11, and Unbelievers and liars will burn, it says, in Revelation 21:3-8.
But God will give to whoever asks it says, in that same Revelation section. The present is threatening, as we’re seeing God, here, now judging the world. This is God in the world, right now, letting wars and shortages terrorize us. And the future will be overwhelming, with Jesus the destroyer taking his people out of here, and burning the earth and the universe, completely. We can’t imagine the firepower to burn the entire universe, but the Bible says God is a consuming fire. Pray to God, Unbelievers, and maybe he’ll have mercy.
