Getting in the Spirit Part 2

Frosty windows, warm inside
as the wind blows, it’s cozy
All us, sinners, warmed and kind
gladly bringing the roast in

So, we’re in the spirit
Though it rains today

God will get all my love
He won’t get “the rest”
But will get my best

Eating apples to the core
I’m a forced vegetarian
Though the world wants more and more
I won’t be a contrarian

God will get all my love
He won’t get “the rest”
But will get my best

Not my words, the Bible’s:
God is a consuming fire
Jesus lifts me up higher

Life’s been getting cold and hard
But that’s subject to friendships
Fire renders molten rock
Love makes butterballs tender

God will get all my love
He won’t get “the rest”
But will get my best

Again, God will get all my love
He won’t get “the rest”
But he’ll get my best
God’s not incidental

He’s been blessing me
giving me everything I need
I’ll be thanking him
sitting ’round, eating all I see

My birthday’s just around the corner
I’m old and over the hill
and of an ancient race
my family’s not that great
but my friend is the Master of fate

Happy Thanksgiving!
