The proud are obnoxious wherever you turn
You pick off their vomit outside of their church
The proud see bad doctors and enter real hurt
who’re even more harmful, they exit far worse
Keep the peace, they say
People are not only haters they are wasters
They are not only takers they are changers
Not sustainers or relayers but complainers and retainers
Climb up, higher and higher
from the muck and the mire
God is a consuming fire
The beautiful ship’s in the ugliest storm
But God is the Captain
Don’t listen to teachers who teach empty heads
Ignore all the speakers or flunk every test
You hate the bad leaders but they are well-fed
and all the bad preachers, to hell they are led
Keep the peace
Jesus sees, the Holy Spirit hears and the Father will change it all
He will waste it all, just like they all do
It’s corrupt in town, God will bust it down
That is not our desire
but the fate of the liar
God is a consuming fire
She is getting married!
She is getting married!
To the Man who owns the cattle
On a thousand hills
Since it’s a bad system as corrupt as it’s cold
that’s wicked and sinister, the dead he’ll unload
But listen to witnesses alive and well-clothed
who’re with the good minister who’ll bring them all home
Keep the peace
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still
and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still
and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still
and he that is holy, let him be holy still
at the funeral pyre
let us all still admire
God is a consuming fire
Yes, she’ll keep the peace
She’ll take it with her when she leaves
She has one foot on earth
and one in heaven
She either has very long legs
or very much faith
But her faith is her husband’s
