What the Master Said

Scorner and Survivor lie by the fire
Survivor and Scorner like to stay warm
And their Master wanted them near

Survivor’s a cat and Scorner’s a dog
Survivor lies flat but Scorn wanted more

Survivor looked on at rats in their home
but Scorner must rock, and Scorner must roll

“You are my friends if you do whatever
I command you,” the Master said

Survivor won’t race to rats on the floor
but Scorn chose to chase the rats out the door

Survivor detests the rats that we hate
but knew it was best a cat should refrain

The Master, the fire, the door, the cat, the rats, and the dog

Survivor obeyed but Scorn loved to play
Survivor’s betrayed but Scorn won’t remain

As rats act as rats Survivor just looked
When Scorner attacked the dog’s tail was cooked

The Master, the fire, the door, the cat, the liars, and the dog

Survivor’s alone with Scorner now lost
though months had put up with much from the dog

Like jumping and fighting nights and all day
and running and chasing every which way

Though nothing exciting is happening
the earth is lurching on
Survivor’s excited no matter what
the Master’s working on
