Redemption

The wind is blowing up a storm but there’s no rain
Like remedies that claim to cure but there’s still pain
The sun’s been cutting through the clouds most every day
so, all the rain is not allowed to our dismay

But in Pennsylvania a fool won’t be found
and New Jersey’s eternal, all jewels in God’s crown
God’s mercy’s forever, amazing but true
Forever redemptive, he makes all things new

Our animals and plants, alike, are in his wake
as boys and girls who play inside all think it’s safe
Those boys and girls must think they’re wise, and don’t obey
completely, as I think he’d like, and it’s a game

But God’s redeemed his people
and they remain as neighbors

When Eve and Satan were naive, they reached to take
The snake’s been stealing like a thief, and much the same
The eating of the Knowledge Tree contaminates
a spiritual death is what we’ve seen proliferate

A poor man that oppresses the weak
is like a sweeping rain that leaves no food
How great is God’s redemption?
If not for Jesus we would be lost, too

Please, children of your father see the choices made
We’re growing to our Father’s knee and know the Way
The weather’s always happening fast, the heads will say
As last are first and first are last we’ll get our rain

Justice, I won’t take my chances with you
God’s a God of mercy, however
“I make all things new,” God says
Dare I say the word? Redemption

And a Man shall be a hiding place from the wind
a shelter from the storm
as streams of water in a dry place
like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land

Who is that man?
It is a sign, a test of redemption
